The Whaka100 Mountain Bike Marathon® is excited partner with Cycling New Zealand to host the Marathon MTB National Championships on 22 October 2023 as part of the Whaka100.
How it works
The event will run a dual podium. The 100km event will be run as normal (including start times) with all athletes being eligible for Whaka100 finisher medals, podium and prizes (or prize money, if applicable) in the category they entered.
Athletes who have included their Cycling New Zealand licence or purchased day licence will eligible for their podium in National Championship as per the categories listed below.
Seeding is based on the athletes qualification result on Friday's Eliminator race regardless of the final result eliminator result. Enter via the Eliminator page.
To be eligible for the Marathon MTB National Championship, you need to be a New Zealand athlete holding a licence as listed below and are encouraged to be a member of a MTBNZ/CNZ affiliated club.:

- UCI Categories (Elite, U23, U19) must hold an appropriate 2023 or 2024 Cycling New Zealand Licence (Elite/U23 = Adult Licence, U19 = Youth Licence)
- NON-UCI Categories (Sport, Masters 1 – 5) Must hold either an annual Cycling New Zealand Licence or automatically be issued a Cycling New Zealand Special Event License "Day Licence" as part of the riders 100km entry. By entering the 100km race you agree to the CNZ agree to the Terms & Conditions
NOTE: If you have a licence, it is your responsibility to added it to your entry via Manage My Entry if your licence is not added you will not be eligible for the Championship. Entry closes 5pm on Thursday the 13th of October 2022.

- Elite/U23/U19 - This will be run as a combined race with only one National Jersey will be awarded to the first athlete to finish.
UCI Points
The following UCI Points are awarded:
- XCM Points award to the top 5 = 100, 80, 60, 50, 40, 20, 10, 5
- XCE Points award to the top 5 = 10, 6, 4, 2, 1.
NON - UCI Categories
National Medals are awarded to all categories listed below:
- Sport - For Riders aged between 23 - 29 (as at 31 December 2023)
- Masters 1 - For Riders aged between 30 - 39 (as at 31 December 2023)
- Masters 2 - For Riders aged between 40 - 49 (as at 31 December 2023)
- Masters 3 - For Riders aged between 50+ (as at 31 December 2023
- Masters 4 - For Riders aged between 60+ (as at 31 December 2023)
- Masters 5 - For Riders aged between 70+ (as at 31 December 2023)
