TRAIL GRADING
The course requires a moderate-level of technical skill with the majority of the stages being on grades 1-4 and a touch of easier grade 5 trails - all features rollable. Navigation skills are not needed with our well-marked route. |

A single bag drop service is available for Shimano 100km participants. Please bring your own bag; race-number labels will be provided.

There are two self-service water stations on course, stocked with water and PURE Electrolytes.

Feed Zone
Located on Princess Anne Road, the Feed Zone provides access to nutrition, hydration, medical support, mechanical assistance, and bag drop items.Available nutrition includes: CLIF Bars, PURE Energy Gels, PURE Electrolytes, Red Bull, Coke, water, bananas, oranges, potato chips, brownie, and jet planes.
Personal Support Crew
Personal support for fuelling and mechanical assistance is permitted at:
Mechanic Support
A professional event mechanic will be based at the Feed Zone to assist with mechanical issues.
Bike Patrol
Our bike patrol team operates across the course to support riders between key locations. They provide assistance with minor mechanicals, nutrition, and on-course guidance, particularly in more technical or demanding sections.
Start Waves
Participants are seeded into start waves based on estimated finish time. Please select your wave carefully to ensure a safe and fair experience.
Course Cut-Offs
Cut-offs are in place to ensure rider safety and effective event operations. Riders have a maximum of 11 hours to complete the course and must maintain an overall average pace of approximately 9.5 km/h. Progression is assessed at key checkpoints, taking into account terrain and conditions. Riders who miss a cut-off will be withdrawn and transported back to the venue. Additional safety cut-offs may apply in adverse conditions.

Finisher Medals & awards

All finishers will receive a Shimano 100km finishers' medal.
Prize giving is held at a set time as per the schedule. Podium medals & non-monetary prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female in the below award categories.

Whaka 100 Elite
The Whaka 100km race will include an Elite Category for riders. Results are awarded as follows:

- Open to all riders in the Whaka100 Elite Category, both NZ and international.
- Riders are eligible for prize money and Whaka100 medals.
- No UCI points awarded.
ELITE ATHLETE SUPPORT
We offer elite athletes a range of support on application and by invitation. Application is not a guarantee of approval and support packages are limited. Support application closes 30 September unless allocated prior.
