Mons Royale Summit Challenge, is a race within the race, with the fastest to the top winning prizes.

Rewarding riders in the Shimano 100km event who can dig deep to come out fastest in their category to the top of the climb section.

Maxing out at a gradient of 21%, and an average of nearly 8%, riders will need to summon all their strength, and focus their mind to ascend the 4.4km segment.

Consisting of Pondy Elevator, Moerangi Road and Time Warp, times will be taken at the summit, rewarding riders with views of the forest and thrilling descent of Split Endz.

How it works
All Shimano 100km and Whaka Miler participants are able to win in the Mons Royale Summit Challenge.

​Awards go to the fastest rider by age group category, not the first. So you can be working on conserving energy and still nail the hill climb for sweet prizes and bragging rights at the finish line.
