In this week’s partner spotlight we want to share with you our awesome Whaka 100km partner - PermaPine. Located in the heart of the largest plantation forest in the Southern Hemisphere (which all the Whaka 100 participants know and love), PermaPine plays a large part in your Whaka100 journey - many stages of which you might not even know about! First up, PermaPine is an avid supporter of the Trails Trust and the awesome work the Trust does in developing and maintaining the trails in the Whakarewarewa Forest. They also supply roundwood to be used on the trails - including in the Forest Loop bridge. So every time you enter the Forest Loop at waipa, PermaPine stops you getting your feet wet! PermaPine sees partnering with the Whaka 100 as an extension of their involvement with the local riding community; Rotorua is widely recognised as having some of the best mountain biking in New Zealand, and PermaPine are excited to support the Whaka 100 in showcasing these trails. PermaPine also has a big focus on protecting the Whakarewarewa Forest so that it can be used by future generations (and mountain bikers)! PermaPine is a local manufacturer of roundwood and treated outdoor products, with products including posts, poles, piles and bollards, being supplied into the horticulture, farming and construction markets. Therefore, they ensure that all the forests they use are managed sustainably and that their log suppliers’ management practices have been certified by international sustainability agencies.
Not only does PermaPine love that the forests can be used as “a playground for mountain biking”, they’re also a founding sponsor of the new BMX track in Rotorua. Taking this further, PermaPine is a strong supporter of the local and wider community. PermaPine think of their products as “Tuff By Nature” and that all you Whaka100 participants are tough by nature in tackling this iconic event too!
We want to thank them for supporting the awesome Whaka 100km and we can’t wait to see them on the day! |
